Autumn Breaks in Ireland

Last of the Summer Wine:

The meteorological date for the start of autumn is the 1st September. When you add that fact to the children being back at school then we can take it that it is officially autumn. The vibrancy of the green leaves is fading gently and already some leaves have turned saffron, yellow and glorious reds; in particular some vines are now positively plush in their claret and burgundy autumn ensemble. A visit to the country at this time of the year is a golden opportunity not to be missed before we have to batten down the hatches for the colder months to come.

It is an added bonus for some exterior glamour for those country house hotels who are fortunate enough to be surrounded by and enveloped in autumn foliage. One such property is the cute Newforge House in Co. Armagh, where the orchards are now weighed down with juicy apples just waiting to be collected. There is nothing more refreshing than sinking your teeth into an apple just plucked from a tree.

I am also smacking my lips at the thought of another property perfectly matched with autumnal colours; Rathsallagh House in Co. Wicklow is less than an hour’s drive from Dublin and an ideal Country House for a mini getaway. Here the visual splendour of the countryside is displayed in all its autumn glory as it quietens down for its annual winter hibernation.

Another suggestion is located in the county of Cork. Fancy the idea of escaping to the country with family and friends?

Simply gather your tribe together and whisk them away to Longueville Country House. Enjoy memorable fun filled days and evenings in the calm surroundings of Longueville. Lots of on-site activities, local places of interest to visit for the culturally curious, and plenty of quiet corners for those who just prefer to relax and read a book beside a real log fire. Group sizes from 8 guests minimum to 12 guests maximum. The group shares the house with other resident guests but private dining is available. So no excuse not to to have that long overdue family chit-chat aligned with a magical autumn break.
